Harmonize

By identifying your syndicated content with the standard feed icon, you're helping to...

  • Eliminate confusion brought on by acronyms.
  • Break down the international barriers.
  • Bring feeds to the forefront.

Standardize

Mozilla Foundation recently posted usage guidelines with accompanying FAQ for the feed icon. They've also branded two versions of the icon as being the canonical icons - one that you see here and a smaller 14x14 version that more closely resembles the original Firefox Live Bookmarks icon. Both icons are now part of the download package offered here.

If you manage a website or write some code for something, you definitely need a text editor to make your job simpler and easier. Well there are a handful of code editors or text editors available as opensource or freeware as well as shareware and commercial products. Let me enlighten you why and which kind of text editor features you really need.

Some of us we just need to edit some files mostly source codes. Few others need it to modify HTML or similar files editing. So if you do it with notepad then you're really wasting your time understanding and navigating the codes. First we talk about notepad replacements. Windows notepad comes with very limited features that doesn't really help you to solve your problem on a day to day basis. Do you need something that is fast, small and can really replace your current notepad. Here are few of them that you can count on them. This article has been split into 4 pages. Look at the page links at the bottom of the first article.

NTFS-3G
The NTFS-3G driver is an open source, freely available read/write NTFS driver for Linux and other operating systems. It provides safe and fast handling of the Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista file systems. Most POSIX file system operations are supported, with the exception of full file ownership and access right support.

The purpose of the project is to develop, continuously quality test and support a trustable, feature rich and high performance solution for hardware platforms and operating systems whose users need to reliably interoperate with NTFS. Besides this practical goal, the project also aims to explore the limits of a hybrid, kernel/user space file system driver approach. Performance, reliability and feature richness per invested effort are being examined.

New Robots.txt Syntax Checker: a validator for robots.txt files

Robots.txt Checker

Robots.txt files (often erroneously called robot.txt, in singular) are created by webmasters to mark (disallow) files and directories of a web site that search engine spiders (and other types of robots) should not access.

This robots.txt checker is a "validator" that analyzes the syntax of a robots.txt file to see if its format is valid as established by Robot Exclusion Standard (please read the documentation and the tutorial to learn the basics) or if it contains errors.

1
Simple usage: How to check your robots.txt file format? Just insert the full URL (Example: http://www.yourdomain.com/robots.txt) of the robots.txt file you want to analyze and hit Enter

2
Powerful: The checker finds syntax errors, "logic" errors, mistyped words and it gives you useful optimization tips

3
Accurate: The validation process takes in account both Robots Exclusion Standard rules and spider-specific (Google, Inktomi, etc.) extensions.
